The Design

Last weekend, while I was in the shower (of all places!), an idea popped into my head about an STD design. Since I wanted one that would somehow reflect who we were or what we do, I immediately realized that it was right in front of me the whole time.

The theme: Microsoft Outlook + Post-It.

The look and feel would be a calendar entry with a Post-It note (something I use everyday) with a few details scribbled (something I do everyday too).

Well, since Jon approved of it, here is the final design of our STD, which I'm particularly proud of =)

The Packaging

My family (dad's side) will be having dinner tomorrow, with authentic Cebu lechon as the main event (courtesy of my uncle arriving from Cebu). It is a good time to give out our STDs -- the problem was I HAVEN'T MADE THEM YET! So I thanked my lucky stars for the materials I bought before (National Bookstore is my new haven) and even if I had to make do with what I had, I am still happy with the finished products. =)

Materials

  • Photopaper from CD-R King (Long live CD-R King!!!)
  • Tissue Wrapper
  • Purple Butterfly garnish
  • Purple thread

What I Did

I just printed the design I made on the photopaper. I printed two images in one A4 size paper. For the tissue wrapper, I decided to sew the edges instead of using paste to avoid damaging the paper. I used a purple thread as contrast to the pomelo pink tissue wrapper (I wanted the stitches to be seen) and made different types of envelopes. The butterfly garnish was added asymmetrically – I didn’t want to make them look alike. Again, I chose to sew the garnish instead of pasting it or using glue gun.

It ain't over...

Well, this is only the local version of our STDs… I still haven’t made the ones we would send to Jon’s family in Canada. But we’ll probably use the same design but just stick it to a magnetic sheet to make ref magnets.
